Tomato Plant Girl -- Teen/Young Adult Summer Tour

Directed by Gabriel Slusser, we are seeking three female-identifying performers (or nonbinary folks who are comfortable playing a female role) to join us for our PAID Summer Touring Company.

You must be 15-20 years old at the time of auditions to audition for this production.

AUDITION DATES

Friday, April 26th from 6:30-8:30pm
Saturday, April 27th from 3:30-5:30pm

Auditionees must attend the full two-hour block.

Callbacks are on Monday, April 29th from 6:30-9:00pm.

WHERE AND WHEN DOES THE SHOW REHEARSE AND PERFORM?

Tomato Plant Girl will rehearse from May 1st through June 7th.

There are at least two in-house performances of Tomato Plant Girl on June 8th and 9th.

After this, Tomato Plant Girl will tour to libraries and other venues throughout Kentucky on Thursdays through Saturdays from June 13th through July 13th. There will likely not be a show on every single one of those days, but we are holding them to be booked.

We are able to accommodate some family vacations and conflicts, but due to the fast-paced nature of the rehearsal process, we hope that you are able to be at as much rehearsal as possible.

Will we be paid for this opportunity?

Yes! We pay a lump sum for the rehearsal period and $25 per day of tour performances as a meal stipend.

Can I be in the Summer Family Musical AND Summer Tour?

Yes! Summer Tour would take priority as the rehearsal period is shorter and the performances are sooner, but you can absolutely be cast in both shows.

If you would like to audition for Tomato Plant Girl, please fill out this audition form: https://form.jotform.com/220805879858170

If you have questions, please reach out to Resident Stage Manager, Kate Tayler at rsm@lctonstage.org.

Youth Advisory Board (YAB) 2024-2025 Applications

Lexington Children's Theatre is excited to open applications for our second year of our Youth Advisory Board! The Youth Advisory Board will be comprised of young people involved and invested in LCT's programming and who work with us to shape the future of the organization!

The Youth Advisory Board will be comprised of up to 12 total members with delegates comprised of rising seventh through twelfth graders (for the 2024-25 school year). We will select delegates from a variety of different schools, involvement levels, and backgrounds to build the Board.

The Youth Advisory Board will meet every month for a two-hour meeting as a full group from the months of August through May. Sub-committees may meet more frequently as needed.

The Youth Advisory Board aims to give young people a voice in LCT’s programming. Our goal is to have the Board Members be advocates for youth like them and bring exciting ideas for change to the table. We will discuss topics such as season planning/play title selection, education, visioning, and IDEA (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, & Accessibility). We will strive to have youth voices in the decision-making that impacts young people and our organization. The Youth Advisory Board may also move to cover a variety of other interests as they're brought to the table by its members. Members may participate in event planning, fundraising, or other activities of interest.

A Youth Advisory Board Member may serve for no more than three consecutive years on the Board and every board member will need to re-apply each year. After three years on the board, members must take a year off and can reapply the next year.

Applicants who have not served on the Board will need a letter of recommendation from someone who does NOT currently work at Lexington Children's Theatre.

Returning member applicants do NOT need a letter of recommendation, but will instead meet with one of the advisors for a performance review.

The deadline for applications and letters of recommendation to be submitted is Wednesday, May 15th at 11:59pm. After this time, our selection team will consider applications and our 2024-2025 Youth Advisory Board members will be announced by the end of June/beginning of July.

There are a series of long answer questions on the application that are provided below. It is recommended that you answer these questions in separate document and copy and paste your answers as the Jotform sometimes does not save progress.

  1. Describe any leadership experience you may have (student council, sports, babysitting, youth groups, etc.)
  2. What sparked and continues to spark your passion for theatre?
  3. How has LCT impacted you personally?
  4. What challenges do you see that young theatre artists face?
  5. What ideas or changes do you have to help improve LCT?
  6. What would you like to accomplish as a member of the Youth Advisory Board?
