Discovery Productions – Open to the public
Since 1938, LCT has been creating productions for young audiences using young artists as actors and occasionally as technicians. As our productions became more and more popular with school groups, and our professional acting company expanded, we realized that fewer young people would be able to participate in subscription series productions. Many of our Main Stage shows require students to miss up to 20 days of school in a row! That makes it very difficult to keep up with schoolwork. To ensure that LCT retained its tradition of offering young people a variety of performance and technical opportunities, we began the Discovery Series in 1995. Our goals were relatively simple:
- Provide challenging performance opportunities for young people by presenting plays with central characters that are also young in age.
- Encourage and mentor students in the many areas of technical theatre.
- Shorten the run of the show so as to limit the number of missed school days.
- Provide LCT’s professional staff as support to improve the quality of our youth performances.

Who: The show requires a cast of approximately 30 members ages 9-adult. All performers must turn 9 prior to January 20th to be eligible to audition. Adults will be considered for the roles of Ladahlord, Spiker, and Sponge only.
How: Auditions are by appointment only. To schedule an audition time, email email@example.com.
In your email tell us:
- Auditionee’s name
- Their age
- Date and time they wish to audition
- Name, phone number, and email address (of a parent or guardian if inquiring for a student)
- You may include a student phone number and email if you wish
We’ll confirm your appointment by email and include an audition packet. Please complete it and bring it with you to the audition.
Where and What: When you arrive at the theatre go to the check-in desk. If you have not already you will receive an audition packet and be asked to fill it out. You’ll turn in your completed forms at which time we’ll collect your $1 photo fee and take your picture. During the actual audition you’ll participate in warm-ups, improvisational activities, learn a dance with our choreographer, sing the audition piece, and read scenes from the script.
For this production we will make audition materials available in advance. When you set up your audition you will receive links to those materials in your email confirmation.
