2 Positions available

1 YEAR Contract May to May OR

1 YEAR Contract September to September

These two Arts Administration interns overlap contracts to maintain continuity of programming. Both positions are immersed in all aspects of marketing, special events, audience development and audience services. Candidates share responsibilities in reception/box office which focuses on public relations, front of house and box office. Interns are assigned substantial projects working closely with Marketing and Development staff to provide audience development and funding for the artistic and educational programs of the theatre. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel mandatory. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, In Design and graphic design experience helpful, but not necessary. 1 YEAR LONG Contract Available - May to May

The Costume intern assists in construction & maintenance of costumes for on our eleven show professional season. Responsibilities include cutting, draping, flat patterning, construction, crat work, maintenance, stocking, alteration and assisting with education department costume needs. Applicants should include a cover letter indicating area and session of interest, resume, three references and design / construction images in their application.

11 SUMMER Contracts Available - Late May to Mid August

Summer Interns are fully immersed in teaching including devising and implementing lesson plans, directing and otherwise assisting in Summer Theatre School programming for students age 4-16. Interns also coordinate the technical elements of scenery, lighting, sound, props and art activities for their classes. Education Interns may be asked to assist with outreach programs in surrounding counties. Teaching experience is highly desired. Interns MUST have a demonstrated interest in theatre for youth. Applicants should include a cover letter indicating area of interest, resume and three references in their application.

1 SEASON Contract Available - September to May

The season education Intern teaches drama classes, directs performance workshops, is responsible for class registrations and assists with outreach in local schools. Additionally this position assists the Associate Artistic Director in day to day operations, administrative duties, writing teacher’s guides and may perform in Main Stage productions if time and opportunities arise. Teaching experience is highly desired. Intern must have a demonstrated interest in theatre for youth. Applicants should include a cover letter indicating area of interest, resume, three references and writing samples (a lesson plan, college assignment or article) in their application.

In-House Performance internships

Available September through May only!
Ideal candidate will have an interest in theatre for youth. Responsibilities include performance in LCT's Main Stage productions. (We guarantee a minimum of two roles during the season.) Additional duties will be assigned as needed, including secondary assignment to another department. (No, we can't be rehearsing and performing every moment of the day.) Applicants must include a cover letter, head-shot, resume and 3 current references. You cannot be seriously considered unless you include a  video or DVD sample of work that follow the audition guidelines or we saw your audition at UPTA or SETC.

Touring Performance internships

Available September through May only!
Touring Interns join the professional touring actors for one of their two semesters while under contract with LCT. Though largely a run-out tour (meaning you return to Lexington each day) any additional overnight housing and a weekly per diem is paid by LCT while on the road. The other semester is spent in-house performing on the Main Stage.  (We guarantee a minimum of three roles during the season.) Additional duties will be assigned as needed, including secondary assignment to another department when not rehearsing and performing. Applicants must include a cover letter, head-shot, resume and 3 current references. You cannot be seriously considered unless you include a  video or DVD sample of work that follow the audition guidelines or we saw your audition at UPTA or SETC.

2 -- YEAR LONG Contracts Available -  May to May

That is two positions for one year each. Stage management interns assist the Production Stage Manager with main stage and education productions as well as company management and tour management responsibilities for our eleven show professional season. Interns stage manage at least two Main Stage productions and two tour shows. Applicants should include a cover letter indicating area of interest; resume; three references; prompt book, organization and writing samples in their application.

PAINT AND PROPERTIES INTERN

1 SUMMER Contract Available - May to August

1 SEASON Contract Available - September to May

Contracts may be combined. Preference is given to candidates who will stay from May to May. Paint and properties intern reports to and works with Lead Scenic Artist/Properties master on our eleven show professional season. Intern assists in all aspects of production, including carpentry for show builds, lighting, sound, while focusing on properties and painting. Design opportunities may be available in Discovery Productions. Applicants should include a cover letter indicating area and session of interest, resume, three references and design/paint samples in their application.

GENERAL TECHNICIAN INTERN

1 SUMMER Contract Available - May to August (Carpentry and Lighting focus)

1 SEASON Contract Available - September to May (Sound and Lighting Focus)

Contracts may be combined. Preference is given to candidates who will stay from September through August. The general technician intern reports to and works with the Assistant Technical Director/Master Electrician while participating in the preparation and execution of our eleven show professional season. Intern assists in all aspects of production, including carpentry for show builds, lighting, sound, while focusing on carpentry and electrics. Qualified candidate may have design opportunity in the Summer Family Musical and Discovery productions. Applicants should include a cover letter indicating area and session of interest, resume, three references and in their application.

All interns receive $110 weekly stipend, housing and guarantee of one day off a week.
