While we’re sad to not be hosting field trips at LCT and at locations throughout the state for the remainder of 2020 – we are thrilled to provide your one-stop-shop for theatre experiences that can be brought to your students in a safe way!

Subsidy is available for all programming based on the number of students who receive Free or Reduced Lunch and can subsidize up to 50% of the cost. In order to receive funding you MUST have already reserved your programming by filling out our School Booking Form.

Streaming Productions

LCT’s Show Streaming lets you bring professional theatre productions directly into your classroom! Booking a streaming pass will give you access to your chosen play via Vimeo for one week (all day Monday-4:00pm on Friday). You also have the opportunity to add live Q&A sessions or post-show Theatre Workshops for an additional fee.

School Pricing for Streaming Productions:

School streaming passes are based on the number of students streaming 

  • $30 Classroom (1 – 30 students) 
  • $125 Grade Level (30 – 130 students) 
  • $400 Entire School (130+ students)   

Note: Pricing is flexible. For example, if you are purchasing passes for two grade levels and not the entire school, you can select two “Grade Level passes, which will be more cost effective than the “Entire School” price.     

School passes run during the week, all day Monday to 4:00pm on Friday. 

You have the option to add live virtual Q&As (20-minute) for $25 per session, and/or live virtual post-show workshops (50-minute) for $75 per session. The maximum for each of these live sessions is 30 students.

Short Virtual Workshops

LCT’s Theatre Workshops connect you with our professional Theatre Artists for an exciting educational experience that will get you and your students moving, playing, and thinking outside of the box!

Audition Techniques (4th – 8th graders) – (2 sessions, 1.5 hours each) (*Live Instruction) 
This class discuss what makes a successful audition, what directors are looking for, audition tips, and answer any questions you might have about the audition process. We will discuss the different types of auditions and what makes a good headshot and resume. Pricing: $150 per class (≤30 students)

Halloween Make-up (4th -12th graders) – 2-2.5 hours (*Live Event) 
Do you want to create some great looking character make-up for this Halloween? Join LCT as they show you the ins and outs of character make-up and design. Pricing: $125 per class (≤30 students)

StoryBox (Pre-K  2nd graders)  (45 minutes 1 hour) (*Live Event & delivery beforehand)
StoryBox is an interactive story telling experience using drama and imaginative play for young people ages four to seven. Materials used in this 30-minute workshop will be left for the classroom so that young people may continue to explore the story further. Pricing: $75 per class (≤30 students)

Weekly Virtual Classes

LCT’s Weekly Classes connect you with our professional Teaching Artists for weekly one-hour sessions that bring an in-depth look at the theatrical process, both on stage and behind the scenes. With many different options to choose from, we have something for every grade, interest, and experience level.

Three Week Classes

Acting for the Camera (5th  8th graders) (*Live Instruction) 
Performing onstage is very different than performing for the camera. In this class we will give students the fundamentals of being an on-screen performer and record a few commercials and monologues to assist them in honing the technique.  

Pricing for Three Week Classes:

$200 per class (≤30 students)

Six Week Classes

Create a Play (K  2nd graders) (*Live Instruction) 
In this class, young people work to create their own play by using contemporary literature or a theme as their source material. The class will originate their own characters, dialogue, and story. At the end of the week, the class will have a play they can share online with their families 

Improvisation (5th  8th graders) (*Live Instruction)
This class will help young people develop their improvisation skills as they learn to think on their feet. We will work to define and demonstrate the five basic principles of ImprovisationGive and Take, Beginning/Middle/End, Spontaneity, Yes and, and Listening.

Nine Week Classes

Devising a Play (6th  8th graders) (*Live Instruction) 
Have you ever wanted to create a play from scratch? LCT’s Teaching Artists will guide you through a process of choosing a topic, brainstorming ideas and structures, and creating an original work. This class takes a motivated group of students who are passionate about a topic or idea they want to turn into a play. 

Foundations of Acting (3rd – 8th graders) – (*Live Instruction)
This class is an overview of the skills and training need to understand and develop a student’s craft of acting. Each week will be filled with activities and exercises to develop the voice, imagination, and skills necessary to begin the process of learning to create meaningful characters as a young performer.  

Playwriting (5th  8th graders) (*Live Instruction) 
This program will assist students in understanding story structure as they work to write their own ten-minute play. Each class will consist of a series of writing exercises and lessons to give your student a firm foundation is crafting a piece of theatre.  

Scene Study (4th – 8th graders) (*Live Instruction)
In Scene Study, the participants are given a partner and a cutting from a play. The class works to develop their character based on the playwright’s language and context provided by the script. The participants work to learn and perform the role to be shared in a show case setting.

Arts Integration Residencies

Arts integration is an active and creative way of teaching and learning in which students are engaged in interdisciplinary activities and projects that work towards learning objectives in the arts and in other core subjects. These residencies are developed with your input and aligned with Kentucky Academic Standards across the curriculum. 

Arts integration residencies include: 

  • An initial planning meeting with an LCT teaching artist to identify learning objectives and understand your classroom needs. 
  • Arts integrated lesson plans designed and facilitated for your classroom by LCT teaching artists.
  • Multiple in-class sessions facilitated by LCT teaching artists that use drama and theatre techniques to teach and explore core content. These sessions are tailored to meet the needs of your schedule and budget. 
  • Drama and theatre activities modeled in your classroom that you can continue to use in your own daily teaching practice. 

Arts integration residencies developed by LCT teaching artists include:  

  • Dr. Chaos and the Weather Adventure: An Interactive Weather Exploration 
  • Brother Sun and Sister Moon: Exploring Sun/Earth/Moon Relationships

Pre-Recorded Classes & Workshops – COMING SOON!

We are currently working on creating pre-recorded educational classes and workshops that you and your students can access anytime, anywhere! We are hoping to have them completed by the end of September/early October, and will update this page and the Booking Form as they become available. Booking a pre-recorded pass will give you access to your chosen class/workshop via Vimeo for the rest of the semester (through December 18).

Careers in the Theatre (4th  8th graders) – (1 Pre-Recorded Session) COMING SOON
Have you ever wondered about a career in the theatre? Do you know there are on average 6 people who work backstage for every actor onstage? Join LCT’s staff as they share their job responsibilities and what makes them vital in the creation of a performance. 

Digital Storytelling (6th  8th graders) (6 Pre-Recorded Sessions) COMING SOON
Digital storytelling allows everyday people to share their story. In this pre-recorded series, you’ll learn from LCT Teaching Artists as they demonstrate how to use digital media (pictures, stop animation, and video) to craft your ideas to tell a story or present an idea. 

Flats, Platforms, & Acting Cubes (9th  12th graders) (3 Pre-Recorded Sessions)  COMING SOON
Every drama program needs the know how to build and make these three basic scenery elements. Join LCT artists as they walk through the construction techniques to build these staples and give your theatre program a leg up on creating some stock pieces.  

Introduction to Scenic Painting (6th  12th graders) (6 Pre-Recorded Sessions)  COMING SOON
LCT’s technicians are excited to share their talents with you! Good scenic painting skills are vital to creating a quality set. These artists will show you some basic skills to up your scenic game. Learn techniques like shadow and highlight, wood grain, brick walls, and so much more.  

Theatre Rigging 101 (9th12th graders) (3 Pre-Recorded Sessions) COMING SOON
Rigging scenery can be integral to a theatre’s operation. Learning how to safely rig and support scenery and lightning equipment is an important skill every theatre operator must have. LCT’s technicians will demonstrate some of the basic “dos and don’ts” of stage rigging.
