Iris lives with her mother in the magical land of Nocturno, a place where during the night, workers make all of the things seen in our world by day. Her two best friends are in charge of putting spots on ladybugs, and the threesome can't wait to play in the new big barrel of RAIN! (Batch #782456192) Iris is the best at finding lost things, though she has been unsuccessful in discovering what happened to her father the night he disappeared while lowering the moon and raising the sun. Just as the memory mender informs Iris she is to become the new fog lifter, Iris is kidnapped by the rulers of Nocturno, Gretta and Grotto Good, who are determined to have the "best" of everything. Will Iris comply or be sent to the tunnel of the unwanted? Can Mozart, at age 11, and Annabel Lee, help Iris return to her homeland? Will Iris ever understand the snippet of memory she sees whenever she holds her coat button in her hand? Will her family ever be reunited?
