Get ready for a whimsical adventure in Tomato Plant Girl! In a summer somewhere that time forgot, Little Girl has just moved to Heretown from Thereville, and doesn’t have any friends outside of the neighbor who drags her over to play from across the vegetable garden. Every evening at 5 o’clock SHARP, Little Girl’s neighbor makes the rules for their playtime – rules that must be followed without question. That is until Little Girl meets the extraordinary Tomato Plant Girl!
Dressed upside down and munching on dirt, Tomato Plant Girl introduces Little Girl to a world of topsy-turvy fun and teaches her to embrace her own rules. Together, they embark on a journey of nurturing, growth, and self-acceptance, proving that true friendship knows no bounds.

Emotional Intensity
Action/Stage Combat
Language

Get Ready For:
- Singing and dancing animals and pirates.
- Bright and shiny costumes that you won't believe.
- Lots of underwater characters - how many creatures do you think you can spot?
- The town of Bikini Bottom is close to an underwater volcano and after it starts to tremble, the town panics! Some characters take this as an opportunity to trick their fellow Bikini Bottom residents for their own gain, while others feel empowered to help how they can. We will see some of our favorite characters at their worst. Moments like this are a great way to spark conversations with your young people about ways that a community can work together in positive ways and what lessons you think the characters learned.
Sensory Moments:
- There are a few audience-interactive moments in this show! There is a moment of direct audience interaction with Patchy the Pirate during intermission and performers are in the aisles frequently throughout the show. If you need to leave during the show for any reason, please be mindful of this and be extra aware of people around you as you exit through the aisles.
- Fog is used throughout this performance.
- During several songs actors use bubble guns to bring bubbles around the audience and on stage. Bubble Machnes are also placed above the audience that will also produce bubbles.
- After the song “No Control,” two loud weather alert sounds are played, one at a higher pitch.
- At the end of the show, non-latex balloons are dropped onto the audience from above. These are not intentionally popped but there is a possibility that one could.
- This show is a little longer than our usual performances at around 2 hours and 30 minutes long with two acts and a 15-minute intermission. If a little one gets restless, you are welcome to hang out with our staff in the lobby if needed!

Everybody knows Old Dry Frye! When the preacher man comes around, the parishioners in town know to hide their plates, hide their pies, but especially hide their fried chicken! But what happens when the preacher man bites off more than he can chew? An uproarious journey filled with larger-than-life characters and non-stop hilarity, that’s what! You’ll laugh ‘til the cows come home in this slapstick twist on the traditional Appalachian folktale.

Things to Know Before the Show
Emotional Intensity
Action/Stage Combat
Language
Sound and Lighting
Get Ready For:
- Laughing ‘til your sides hurt! This show is a hilarious slapstick comedy based on an Appalachian ghost story. While there are slight elements of spookiness, the play always leans on the side of silliness and comedy rather than being truly scary.
- This show is the kickoff for our Fall 2024 Professional Touring Company! You’ll see our four professional actors masterfully portray a variety of different characters throughout the show. Come say hi to them after the performance and wish them well as they go on tour for the rest of the semester – then come back and visit them in November when their other show, Winnie-the-Pooh, takes to the LCT stage!
- Wording that gets used throughout the play that you might not be familiar with is various characters using the term "The Haint.” This is a regional term for "haunting" - the characters are worried about being haunted by a (silly, not spooky) ghost!
- Being a part of the action! This play has a call and response as part of the story – every time someone says “the preacher man,” get ready because the actors (and the audience, if you like) immediately responds with “Everybody knows Old Dry Frye!”
Sensory Moments:
- Keep in mind that this production takes place in LCT’s Learning Stage. This is a smaller, “black box” style theatre and has stadium-style riser seating as opposed to traditional theatre chairs. We'll have cushions down in the space, but folks are also welcome to bring stadium chairs, and we recommend arriving early to get a seat on the back wall if you want some back support!
- Because it is a smaller space, audience members are also very close to the action happening on stage! Sit further back in the theatre if you don’t want to be quite as close to the sound and movement.

Based on the book by E.B. White.
"You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing.”
Wilbur may be the runt of the litter, but he’s a rambunctious, lively, and lovable little guy who captures Fern Arable’s heart. When Wilbur and Fern learn of his eventual fate, it’s up to the wise and kind-hearted spider Charlotte to hatch a plan to save this “radiant” pig. Bring your best friend and relive the warmth, charm, and magic of E.B. White’s beloved classic.
