Frequently Asked Questions about School Matinee Performances

All patrons, including students, teachers, chaperones, and aides must be masked at all times, regardless of vaccination status. Masks must cover mouth and nose. (The only exception is infants under 2 years of age.) Guests who are not willing to comply with this guideline will be asked to leave the premises and wait with the school bus.

Audience capacity for Shoyu Tell and The Little Mermaid are reduced by 50%. Groups will be seated by school, with empty seats around each classroom.

Students and teachers will remain on their buses until an LCT staff member lets them know it is time to enter the theatre.

Teachers will be able to seat their students in the Main Stage as necessary, with LCT staff assistance. We ask that teachers seat students first, then exit with 2-3 people at a time to use restrooms as necessary.

Teacher packets, educational play guides, and payment receipts will be delivered electronically.

The Main Stage, all first-floor restrooms, and all high touch areas will be sanitized after every performance.

Most of our shows are performed on LCT’s Main Stage which is conveniently located at 418 W. Short Street, Lexington, KY 40507. Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells! will take place right across the street from LCT in The Lexington Opera House at 401 W Short Street.
Every 10th ticket that you reserve is free. For example, book 52 seats and 5 of those are free of charge, so you pay for 47 of the 52 seats. Every person who plans on attending the production must be included in the total number of seats ordered. We then only charge you for nine of every ten tickets you order. How you use your free tickets is up to you! Please note that individual tickets not ordered through the school (parents, for example) will be sold at the chaperone rate of ($10/$15 for Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells! at the Lexington Opera House) rather than the school group rate and we cannot guarantee that they will be able to be seated with the school group.
Individual tickets to a school day show can be purchased at the chaperone rate ($10/$15 for Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells! at the Lexington Opera House). Individual tickets must be paid for at the time of ordering, and there are no refunds for individual tickets. At least one week’s notice is required to be seated with a group already attending, please do not arrive at the theatre without having previously purchased your ticket.
Seats may be added to an order, subject to availability. You can make reductions before the cancellation date (one week prior to your show), but after that date has passed, no additional seat reductions can be made. All changes to an order must be placed by the school, by the person who initially placed the order.
Due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic, LCT is relaxing our school cancellation policies for the 2021-2022 Season. All in-person programming may be altered or cancelled up to seven days prior to the date of service without financial repercussions. After that deadline, in-person programming may not be cancelled, but may be rescheduled to a later date at any time.
If your school day is cancelled, we will do our best to reschedule you to a different performance of the same show, or if that is not possible to another show later in our season. A refund will be issued if rescheduling is not possible after exhausting all avenues. If LCT has to cancel a show for any reason, you will receive a full refund as well.
Payment is due no later than the day your group attends the performance. You can mail a check to Erin McGuire-Thompson’s attention at the theatre. You are also welcome to hand a check to our box office staff when you arrive if that is easiest for you! Receipts will be emailed to the teacher who made the reservation within 1-3 days after the show.
